- The Bibliography of British and Irish History replaced The Royal Historical Society Bibliography on 1 January 2010, and became a subscription service via Brepols Publishers, but the Irish material is available free at Irish History Online (see below).
- The British and Irish Archaeological Bibliography covers publications (books and articles) from 1695 to the present day on archaeology and historic buildings.
- Colvin, H.M., English Architectural History: A Guide to the Sources, 2nd edn. (1976).
- Curl, J.S., A Dictionary of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, 2nd edn. (2006). All entries include a bibliography. Available online via Oxford Reference Online to those who have access via their local public library card.

- London's Past online: a bibliography of London history produced by the Centre for Metropolitan History in association with the Royal Historical Society Bibliography.
- Planning Architecture Design Database Ireland PADDI is an online bibliographic database on all aspects of the built environment and environmental planning in Ireland, north and south. Indexed material includes items published from c.1865 to the present, covering buildings dating from the 12th century to the present.

- Anderson, A.O., Early Sources of Scottish History A.D.500-1286, 2 vols, 2nd edn (1990).
- Davis, G.R.C., Medieval Cartularies of Great Britain: a short catalogue (1958) is a guide to published and MS cartularies, generally monastic. Amendments and addenda can be found in the annual Monastic Research Bulletin (available online) from no 2 (1996).
- Irish Manuscripts Commission, Catalogue of Publications Issued and in Preparation 1928-1962 (1966). Later publications are listed online by the Irish Manuscripts Commission.
- Mullins, E.L.C., Texts and Calendars: an analytical guide to serial publications, 2 vols (1958, 1983) covers the national (UK and pre-independence Ireland) and local (England and Wales) record series. And see Royal Historical Society below.
